Hopeful Signs

Remember the picture in the last post of the female toad? Well, turns out it was a male and now its breeding with another toad I had believed to be a male, but is actually a femal. Either way, this is agood sign. The mal is currently on top of the female, a postition they have held for the last three days. The male is attempting to stimulate the female so she will lay her eggs, after ehich the male will fertilize them while in the water. Except there's one porblem... make that two. Firstly, the female toad is sick with an infection, somehow she got an open wound on one of her feet. Secondly,  I have seen them in this postionbefore and the last time no eggs were laid. I am attempting to tke care of the first problem using a dissenfectant called BetaDine. In the past I've used it on other animals and its effects are minimal. Therefore the toads recovery does not look so great. But to end on a positive note some toad eggs may be produced, and one of my associates has successsfully produced crested gecko eggs which is wonderful! That's all for now, I hope the toads lay.
